ANNOUNCEMENT

As many of you know, my retirement date is January 2, 2014! It will be difficult not being a part of hosting the many events that we have all been involved in for the past 14 years; however, I will always be grateful for the many opportunities that the Little Rock CVB provided to all of us through their many years of sponsorship. One event very close to my heart is the annual automotive planning meeting that was held every February but unfortunately it too has no sponsorship for 2014. THE GREAT NEWS is there is a car show planning meeting scheduled for March 8 [info below] in Conway, AR! Don Searls, Cruisin Style Magazine liaison is your point of contact. Please visit him on FB for more info.

Again, thanks to all for your many years of support - I will truly miss promoting and hosting the automotive events, but plan to see many of you during the car show season! HRM

LITTLE ROCK JOINS THE ROSTER OF CITIES SCHEDULED TO HOST HISTORIC FIRST EVER HOT BIKE MAGAZINE POWER TOUR

(Hot Bike Power Tour is right around the corner! Please see the following press release for detailed information. The event will be held in Riverfront Park in downtown Little Rock. Please help us spread the word about this wonderful event hosted in our great city! Thanks, HRM.)

The pages of HOT BIKE Magazine set to come to life in Downtown Little Rock on Saturday, August 24, 2013. (LITTLE ROCK, AR) The Inaugural HOT BIKE Power Tour presented by GEICO Motorcycle and co-presented by Official Oil AMSOIL has chosen Downtown Little Rock to kick-off the first ever magazine tour to cruise five cites in five days on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

The inaugural ride will merge motorcycle enthusiasts and industry leaders to celebrate the open road as the pages of HOT BIKE magazine come to life as the tour cruises from city to city. This historic ride will be the ultimate steel horse cavalry of motorcycle enthusiasts from all over the nation to sightsee, explore, and show off their creations as they stop along the tour.

The 2013 tour will kick start in Little Rock, Arkansas and then wind its way from August 24 to August 29 up to the Midwest with the grand finale stop in Racine, Wisconsin. Thousands of motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to converge during each stop for a special one-night display and entertainment as they travel across the country.

Little Rock was chosen to host the Hot Bike Power Tour due to the success from hosting the Hot Rod Power Tour, the car version and Hot Bike's sister publication Hot Rod Magazine, as well as for the amount of serious motorcycle owners and enthusiasts in the state of Arkansas."We anticipate that downtown Little Rock will be filled with motorcyclists when the tour kicks off, and our hotels, restaurants, and retail locations will be ready to welcome them," commented Gretchen Hall, President and Chief Executive Officer, of the Little Rock Convention & Visitors Bureau. "In 2007 and 2008 we hosted The Hot Rod Power Tour. It was amazing and we are fortunate to be the first city that will host both the Hot Bike Power Tour and Hot Rod Power Tour in the same year."

All makes and models of bikes will be allowed to participate and pre-registration is only $50. All registration fees are for the bike and driver and include entry for all the prizes and give-a-ways. Throughout the tour, motorcycle owners will be able to pick up and take off from any city following fellow motorcyclists to the final destination. Participants can join the tour for one day or as many days as they can. Spectators are free. Call 1-877-413-6515 or visit www.hotbikeweb.com for details. Hotel information can be found online at www.hotels4bikers.com.

Thanks, Hot Rod Mama.

March 11: Cruisin' in the Rock
River Market District and Riverfront Park

Downtown Little Rock’s River Market District was rocked this past Friday evening, March 11, as the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau – along with the very groovy host club, Arkansas Pontiac Association – kicked off the 11th season of the ever-so-popular state-wide monthly cruise-ins! As history serves, the faithful Arkansas cruisers – and they are the best – began arriving early in the afternoon to grab their favorite spot under one of the large open pavilions and in the park.

The warm weather and long winter was the perfect recipe for a large turnout of cruisers and spectators. The trees along Clinton Avenue provided a colorful entry into the district, where people enjoyed wonderful attractions, delicious and diverse restaurants and clubs, and the green space within Riverfront Park that is nestled along the banks of the Arkansas River.

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, the color was everywhere – green beads, green beer mugs, green bow-ties and hats, and of course, our very own leprechaun with a pot of gold nuggets and coins! Participants played St. Patrick’s Day Trivia, led by our wild and crazy Stacy Major. All of the trivia questions were answered correctly, and many prizes were awarded.

I so enjoyed seeing old and new faces. It was so good to see Sharon Burris out and about with her our buddy, Pam Walden. Our prayer chain worked for our dear sister and it was evident by that big smile on her face that she was having a blast. I have said it many times and stand by my words that car events are simply family reunions on wheels.

Thanks to everyone that attended the season kick-off, and a big “shout out” to the many kick-awesome Corvettes that lined the east pavilion – beautiful cars and that sounded as good as they looked.

Here are some photos of the event including photos of the Best Cruiser and Best Truck of the evening. Check them out on my Facebook posting.

Next month on April 15, Cruisin’ in the Rock will be at the Home Depot in West Little Rock. Bob Doty opened the parking lot to us during the Fall Street Machine Nationals last year and everyone had a big time. We appreciate him inviting us again, so mark April 15 on your calendar for another Cruisin in the Rock with our friends at The Home Depot.

As always, thanks for your support, stay safe and see you soon.
