March 11: Cruisin' in the Rock
River Market District and Riverfront Park

Downtown Little Rock’s River Market District was rocked this past Friday evening, March 11, as the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau – along with the very groovy host club, Arkansas Pontiac Association – kicked off the 11th season of the ever-so-popular state-wide monthly cruise-ins! As history serves, the faithful Arkansas cruisers – and they are the best – began arriving early in the afternoon to grab their favorite spot under one of the large open pavilions and in the park.

The warm weather and long winter was the perfect recipe for a large turnout of cruisers and spectators. The trees along Clinton Avenue provided a colorful entry into the district, where people enjoyed wonderful attractions, delicious and diverse restaurants and clubs, and the green space within Riverfront Park that is nestled along the banks of the Arkansas River.

With St. Patrick’s Day right around the corner, the color was everywhere – green beads, green beer mugs, green bow-ties and hats, and of course, our very own leprechaun with a pot of gold nuggets and coins! Participants played St. Patrick’s Day Trivia, led by our wild and crazy Stacy Major. All of the trivia questions were answered correctly, and many prizes were awarded.

I so enjoyed seeing old and new faces. It was so good to see Sharon Burris out and about with her our buddy, Pam Walden. Our prayer chain worked for our dear sister and it was evident by that big smile on her face that she was having a blast. I have said it many times and stand by my words that car events are simply family reunions on wheels.

Thanks to everyone that attended the season kick-off, and a big “shout out” to the many kick-awesome Corvettes that lined the east pavilion – beautiful cars and that sounded as good as they looked.

Here are some photos of the event including photos of the Best Cruiser and Best Truck of the evening. Check them out on my Facebook posting.

Next month on April 15, Cruisin’ in the Rock will be at the Home Depot in West Little Rock. Bob Doty opened the parking lot to us during the Fall Street Machine Nationals last year and everyone had a big time. We appreciate him inviting us again, so mark April 15 on your calendar for another Cruisin in the Rock with our friends at The Home Depot.

As always, thanks for your support, stay safe and see you soon.
