THE ROCK'S BIG CRUISEFEST 2009
Although the weather was rainy and cold Thursday and Friday, picture perfect weather on Saturday greeted hundreds of
local and out-of-state car enthusiasts during Big Cruisefest weekend! Although the number of registered vehicles was down,
approximately 200, the quality of vehicles, trucks and motorcycles that were on display were phenomenal!
Record numbers were reached as thousands of spectators took a stroll down memory lane while walking through the park
reminiscing about the classics, as well as enjoying some of the newer custom built cars such as a 2008 Challenger that was
designed and built by George Barris, King of Kustomizers, and Steve Sanderson of Sanderson’s Customs and Conversions in Dallas, Texas.
The Kids Cruisin Lane and the Super Hero Parade drew entertained everyone the entire day. After the parade, the kids
enjoyed getting their faces painted and carefully watched Derrick Rose The Magic Man perform his magic tricks and his creations
of unique characters with balloons. Jim Tindall was also very busy during the day creating caricatures upon request.
All of this was at no cost to the public and we thank our sponsors for their generosity.
We want to thank our out-of-state participants that attended from the states of Louisiana,
Texas, Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma and Missouri. All had a great time and said they plan to return next year.
A huge thank you to the Arkansas Pontiac Association, host club for Big Cruisefest annually, and to John Dolan, George Whitmer and Butch Brumfield.
