Picture perfect weather greeted hundreds of local and out-of-state car enthusiasts during Big Cruisefest weekend! Downtown Little Rock's River Market District and Riverfront Park transformed into a sea of beautiful paint and shiny chrome reflective of the awesome vehicles, trucks and motorcycles on display.

Thousands of spectators took a stroll down memory lane while walking through the park reminiscing about the classics, as well as enjoying some of the newer custom built concept cars such as the "Red Demon" Challenger debuted by George Barris and Steve Sanderson of Sanderson's Customs and Conversions in Dallas, Texas. Barris, King of Kustomizers, created the design for the Challenger and then teamed up with Sanderson for the transformation of the Red Demon. We want to thank George and Steve again for debuting the "Red Demon" which received The Rock's Choice Award on Saturday evening during the awards ceremonies.

Record numbers were reached during The Kid's Super Hero Parade on Saturday afternoon. Elmo, the Grand Marshall, led the parade and was joined by Batman, Superman and Darth Vader. After the parade all received a Halloween Goody Bag filled with surprises and candy and a commemorative parade ribbon. Kids loved getting their pictures taken with Lightening McQueen from the Disney movie "Cars." The kids also enjoyed getting their faces painted and watching Derrick Rose The Magic Man perform his magic tricks and watched carefully as he created unique characters with balloons. Jim Tindall was also very busy during the day creating caricatures upon request. All of this was at no cost to the public and we thank our sponsors for their generosity.

This year's vendor midway was outstanding and included Dupont Hot Hues, O'Reilly Auto Parts, Joey Hutson Artistry, Reeds Early Iron, Eagle Rider, Arkansas Outlaw Association, Pin-Up Garage, High Octane Graphics and Audio One to name just a few. Also joining us again this year was Larry Crain, Cruisin Style Magazine and Brant Long, Street Trucks Magazine.

The show finale included a complimentary BBQ dinner, awards ceremony and a neon and flame throwing contest. Tony and Carol Caprio's demonstration of 15 foot flames shooting from Texas Bandit brought the crowd to its feet immediately for a standing ovation! The evening concluded with the $500 early registration drawing, as well as the drawing for the 350 crate motor.

A special thank you to Jay and Candy Nosler for their sponsorship. Jay and Candy own McDonald Restaurants in West Little Rock, Hot Springs, Jacksonville and Arkadelphia. They are also car nuts and own a beautiful 1965 Mustang and 1969 Camaro. We look forward to a great partnership with them. Additional sponsors included Little Rock City Parks, Peabody Little Rock, Comfort Inn and Suites, Dupont Hot Hues and Street & Performance, Mena, AR.

A huge thank you to the Arkansas Pontiac Association, host club for Big Cruisefest annually, and to John Dolan, George Whitmer and Butch Brumfield.

We have downloaded event photos and listed our award winners and we hope you will enjoy viewing them. Make sure you mark your calendars for next year's show scheduled for October 23-24, 2009, cruise safe and visit www.cruisinlittlerock.com often for updates regarding the wonderful world of cars in Arkansas.
